Playing the piano for a living as I do, I always find myself at the party! In December of each year, I'm at many parties, playing every Christmas song ever written and making up a few of my own. For this recording, I decided not to practice ahead of time. I play by ear so I improvised my own arrangements in the studio, based on memories of how I've played Christmas music in the past. The pictures on the cover are of my four siblings and me. The younger looking shot was taken at the Grand Canyon on a family camping trip at Christmas. We all wore blue and white, so we could be spotted by my parents in any national park, and so my mother would only have to run two loads of wash each night....a blue load and a white load. The second picture was taken in our adult years. This particular pose reminds me of the time our mother came home from the hospital with Dana, kid number five. For our special presentation, the remaining four of us donned cowboy hats and Indian costumes and lined up in order of height. We each stepped forward and chanted our ages: "Two...four...six...eight...Who do we appreciate? MOM!" My mother was overtaken by tears of joy, or possibly shock, in realizing she now had five kids, all under the age of eight.
