Atlanta based pianist/composer/recording artist Beth Michaels has enchanted public and private gatherings for over twenty years with her broad and varied musical repertoire. Adding just the right blend of talent and elegance to any affair, Ms. Michaels has become a noteworthy entertainment choice for many of Atlanta’s finest social and intimate occasions.
Beth has performed for such notables as Ted Turner, former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and President of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Darryl Hartley-Leonard. She has created musical ambiance in many Atlanta locales, from the prestigious Fox Theatre’s Egyptian Ballroom to the High Museum of Art.
Beth’s writing credits include video music for well-known science fiction author Piers Anthony, commercials for BMW, the Weather Channel and Delta Airline’s boarding music heard worldwide.
Michaels' composition, “Winddance,” won first place in the New Age/Jazz category of the prestigious Atlanta Songwriter’s Association competition. “The Swan,” (from her CD Rush Hour) was released nationally on the album "First Flight" with a group of 10 Atlanta composers known as Palomino Duck. This group, along with Ms. Michaels, opened for Yanni at Atlanta's Lakewood Amphitheatre.
Beth’s original instrumentals portray a poetic blend of new age mystique, yet deliver the dramatic intensity worthy of an academy award-winning score. Michaels delicately features the piano in many of her selections, coupled with a stunning backdrop of synthesized color and orchestral sound that appeals to all ages. Several selections feature cello and violin from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Michaels is inspired and influenced by the movie music of Dave Grusin, Henry Mancini and John Williams.
